"Roots" 06.2020

During my residency at 15 Boulev'arts de la Loire I realised the project called “roots”.

I created a poetic story about the parallel of human and nature roots. 

Each of us has a different - own roots, but we can connect like in a natural old forest where there are so many different inhabitants; species of trees and plants, living in symbiosis, supporting and complementing each other. Sharing and connecting with each other are really important for me. Thanks to the residency I could create an exhibition which contains different paintings, drawings and small objects showing “the roots” in a more or less literal way.

I would like to encourage the viewers to look at the roots from different perspectives and see the diversity and deeper layers. Moreover I hope to inspire for a reflection about our own roots.

One of the surprising moments during my residency was the discovery that my great-grandfather was in France during the Second World War, it turned out that he was probably in the district of Saint-Nazaire. I’m really grateful for the opportunity of the residency in Savenay at 15 Boulev'arts de la Loire. I was creating my art pieces in difficult times of covid-19, but thanks to thinking about our deeper roots connections I could feel support even in isolation. My small message in this exhibition is to reflect about humanity as a forest - not monocultural but multicultural(where everybody is important).
